Fecal test with centrifuge

So, talked with the vet tech about my dogs Giardia and what type of test did they do. Float or some sort of SNAP Antigen test.
Come to find out they did do a Float, however the testing company centrifuges the samples.
That seems pretty smart. Is that the standard, because I've not seen it mentioned.
