First Fun Match June 16!

Kyara is going to be great.

BTW, how tall is she? She looks very tall!

Thank you! Yes she a tall one at 18.5 inches tall.

I'm going to register to a couple of fun matches that are coming up next month at another outdoor facility. I can't wait to see how it goes the next times.

Wow. She's tall. Koji's almost 18".

I think she'll do good. The more you get out there, the more she'll get comfy with it and the more she'll focus on her job, not everything else. It may take some time, but she'll get there.

ah, lovely zoomies! Great that you were able to to video yourself!
If you do not take zoomies as a feedback you pretty much can be assured you see more of the same next time. I am not big supporter of theory " keep running in the trials or trial like environments until dog feels comfortable"... dog might get comfortable but the chance of dog associating trial like environment " gee, it is time for me to stress up and have a zoomies or stress down and creep on the field or completely shut down" is much higher.
Very impressive fun match set up, outdoor and indoor just great!

So what do you suggest to prevent the behavior?

She is fine during training at 2 different places where we do group courses (one outdoors and one indoors with another class going on in the other half of the facility) does not zoom around at all. I'd love to get tips on how to get ready for when we will trial (which I would like to be at the end of this summer)!

It is not about prevention of zoomies, zoomies as such is your dog's feedback to you. Your dog telling you she is overwhelmed, stressed and can not handle it. Since you are planning to compete, you might decide to let your dog guide you in when and how. Majority of handlers just sooo want to get to that "sexy" stuff of running full courses that they tend to skip boring things and build shaky foundations. Then it all falls apart once you start competing. Have seen it happen over and over again/ done it too:cry:/ but thus is the human nature- we tend to trade what we want the most for what we want right now:sadsmile:
You might want to talk to your trainers and show them your tapes to see what their suggestions will be. You did much better at your training sessions than a full run. My suggestions will be forget running full courses and go back to practicing short sweet sentences of 1-2-3 obstacles at the most. Break it down to manageble pieces and set your dog for success. Bring trial stress into you regular classes.
Am sure more experienced competitors on this forum will be able to chime in and give better suggestions how did they prepared for the ring experience.
