First Test Results

Thanks, everyone! I was there for the tests yesterday. They had put me on call to bring Checkers in when my vet had a window of time to do them. My vet has done so many ultrasounds on my dogs between pregnancies and gallbladders that I feel like I could run the thing myself. So that part was good...it was the sitting here waiting for the call to say "come now," especially since they're 45 minutes away.

The wait now is for the surgery, since I can't get an earlier date with the surgeon. I'm watching this growth and praying it doesn't get bigger, which could also spread it. If it does, i may have to take her to an emergency clinic with a doctor I don't know, and I really want to avoid that.

Checkers had her chest xray and abdominal ultrasound today to see if there were any internal spots or suspicious growths before her surgery in two weeks. If there were, I was told that would mean that the cancer had already spread and the surgery to remove the growth would be pointless.

I am THRILLED to report that both tests were completely clean!! My vet saw nothing suspicious at all. But that's just Round One. In two weeks, she'll have surgery to remove this growth on her front leg that is almost two inches around and will likely require a skin graft. That will need to be biopsied. But if the surgeon gets clean margins, her odds are good even if it tests for the suspected sarcoma.

Today was murder. I had to wait for the office to call me since my vet was fitting her in and it took until 3. I spent all my time worrying. I'm going to try to relax for the next two weeks and hope this will all turn out to be nothing. Meantime, poor Chex has a naked tummy having been shaved for the ultrasound, but she doesn't seem to mind and still went out and rolled in the snow. In 10 degrees ... a heat wave from the last few days!

Thanks to everyone for your prayers and support! :hugs Please keep them coming! :fl
Good news, I hope it continues!
