Flint River Ranch?

does anyone here fed it? I currently feed Taste of the Wild pacific stream. But my dogs love me to switch dog foods every bag, and it doesnt upset their bellies!

How do you like Flint River Ranch?

If you have not used it, here are the ingredients of the kind I am thinking about feeding.

Trout, Potato, Coarse Ground Millet, Herring Meal, Oatmeal, Sweet Potatoes, Canola Oil, (Preserved with Mixed Tocopherols), Flax Seed, Oat Bran, Natural Flavors, Blueberries, Cranberries, Rosemary, Grape Seed Oil, Menhaden Fish Meal, Granola, Ground Oats, Alfalfa Meal, Inactive Dried Brewer's Yeast, Dried Eggs, Lecithin, Yucca Schidigem Extract, Choline Chloride, Zinc Sulphate, dl-Alpha Tocopherol Acetate, Zinc Amino Acid Complex, Selenium Supplement, Mixed Natural Tocopherol (Antioxidant), Niacin, Iron, Amino Acid complex, Vitamin B-12 Supplement, Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Acetate, Ascorbic Acid, Iron Sulfate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Manganese Amino Acid Complex, Thiamine Mononitrate, Manganous Oxide, Copper Amino Acid Complex, Copper Sulfate, Riboflavin, Vitamin D3, Dried Bacillus Subtilis Fermentation Product, Dried Aspergillus Oryzae Fermentation Product.


to me it looks like it has a low meat content. so I am not set on feeding it. I do not like the idea that wheat is the second ingredient in the other formulas of theirs.

This one looks decent to me. And millet isn't wheat, its a different grain entirely. Its a whole grain and considered high quality.

it was wheat flour. it was the seconded ingredient in two of the formulas.

Ok, I guess it depends which food you look at.

I would definitely stay away from the ones with wheat in them, but there are two of their formulas that look decent. Those ones are:

Flint River Ranch Trout and Potato (Fish & Chips) Nugget Dog Food

and

Flint River Ranch Lamb, Millet, and Rice Kibble Dog Food

Also Flint River Ranch says that the food is twice baked. I thought that cooking the dog food in the first place is what killed the nutritional value. most of the vitamins are destroyed in the cooked process. assuming this is correct wouldn't twice baked be a bad thing then?

but overall I believe that if most dogs do great on it, then it is a good food! I would love to hear more from people who feed it!

I feed Flint River and Solid Gold. I did use Taste Of The wild but went back to Solid Gold.

dog food analysis says . wheat ...wheat ...wheat .. too much wheat.lol.. i only looked at one of the flavors... still it is a 4 starr food

check out the website ..... its a bit pricey!!!



it looks like a 20lb bag is $70 of the one flavor and a 30 lb bag is $70 of a different flavor ..
In my opinion there are far better foods out there for less money.

I have read that baking preserves the nutrients much better than extruding (which most other dog food companies do).

So the Twice Baked is supposed to be their big selling point.

If you are switching foods so often, I would not worry if one bag out of ten had a little too little meat content.

Overall the list of ingredients looks pretty good.
