Fuzz

Chip has a lot of fuzzy baby hair behind his ears and on his neck. It is driving me crazy, doesn't seem to bother Mama. LOL

Should I have groomer trim the fuzz? I brush him every morning and night. His coat is beautiful and no tangles yet. Curly on the back.

Try using a "flea comb" on the ear area. Do it gently but it will someone thin out the area without being trimmed or pulled a lot. I used to use a flea comb on my Persians' heads, face, behind the ears, and the legs/feathers. Kept it neat without being harsh.

Margi,

I read the instructions, helps a lot.

Decided I was going to try doing the trim job. I need to work on it a little more but Chip was getting a little impatient plus I done it in our shop, no air conditioning.

Most difficult item is getting both sides of the head to look the same, at least look like both sides belong to the same dog. LOL

We are so busy, that is why I decided to try it. A couple more times should help with my trim job.

Oh good! Glad you gave it a go :) The hair will grow back fast enough you will get lots of practice!
I should probably buy good thinning shears, but Fillion isn't going to be in a show ring, so the Wal-mart cheapies work for me :smile2:
Where in Ohio are you, Ferg? I'm a Cincy native.

Margi,

We live in Beavercreek, 60 miles north of Cincy.

Didn't have wife with me when I went to PetsMart for the shears. I bought a fairly expensive pair, done a great job, need practice though. I cut my son's hair when he was small. That was almost 50 years ago.

Only Show Ring Chip is going to be in is ours. He is "His Honor the CHIP" in our eyes.

I was playing with him this morning as usual. Couldn't get over the smiles he was presenting.

He gets his stitches out this afternoon. They are so loose I doubt if he will even notice plus he always gives his Lady Vet a kiss.

You are just a stone's throw up the road!
Fillion makes me belly laugh every day. He is a clown. He's my first puppy--the other four shelties came into my life as adults. Being retired myself, I get to spend all the time in the world with him and his daddy.

I have said so many times, "This was the right time for wife and I to get a puppy". There was no time allowable in years past. We are having a blast. Our youngest daughter lives 10 minutes away, she can hardly stay away from Chip more than a few days.

When Cubby and I take our grand circle sheltie meet-n-greet tour of the country . . . we want you and Chip to be one of our stops! Cubby wants to play in that delightful yard and take home maybe a little wooden caboose?

I just love hearing about your really wonderful relationship with Chip.

Mom2Melli,

Will take you up on that. We might even be able to find a little caboose we made years ago.:smile2:
