Glueing Puppy Ears Update

oh my they look great! I loved her flyaway ears, too, tho! hahaha

Thank you so much for the compliments! Her bat ears are long gone hahaha but mmm they're coming out beautifully (not that she wasnt beautiful before <3)

I am enjoying this thread. Your timing is perfect for me since I've had the same questions. Thanks for your posts!

I am so glad you have been benefiting from my thread and that a lot of it has helped you throughout your journey with ear tipping! I will indeed try to upload more updates when I can but mm Precious has had her ears glued so far for 2 months and this was the outcome. They're pretty much in the right position but I let her ears stay erect for a bit too long when it was crucial (its when their ear cartilages harden) so having more difficulty with the erect ear (as you can tell from this photo hahaha). But from what Ive heard from the other members is that this process SHOULD go on until they're about a year old or longer if you want to really set the ears in place. And that you should immediately reglue if it comes out much too soon. I myself have been glueing them for about 2 week intervals and then when it's starting to naturally loosen up, I use an adhesive remover at night near her bed time and remove the little bits off, clean up the ear, comb everything out, and let her sleep freely and then reglue in a few hours or early in the morning. It's just really to let the ears breathe a bit and to see how they're setting and molding naturally before I reglue them. If you're finding that the glue or tape is coming out way too easily, you may want to consider something stronger. I originally was using a safe eyelash glue that was convienent to find but was finding that it was way too weak for a puppy's ears as Precious would scratch at it and the glue would break. I had to constantly reglue almost daily and had learned that if this is the case, the whole process of glueing might be a waste because you aren't setting the right mold long enough for it to be doing anything. It really only works if the glue can hold for a long long time. That's as much information I can think of pulling out hahaha but don't worry, if you have any other questions feel free to search up "glueing sheltie ears' and you should see my threads of my journey from what to use, how to use it, where to buy, how long to do it for, and other important things. Wish you and your pups ears all the best :):) Key is persistence. I wanted to give up at first because it was getting tedious to do, but hard work has paid off (you should have seen Precious's bat/bunny/fly away ears before hahaha). Good luck!!
