Gluing puppy ears. (totally clueless)

Hey again, we're having ear troubles. Sidekicks ears tip, but they fall sideways. Like they don't stay center on his head, onless he's checking something out. I'm also kinda afraid they'll go prick if I don't keep the glue in. I have jiffy sew. Problem is I have no idea what I'm doing. I need help fast.

Calibers ears do the same thing sometimes(if I understand correctly what you mean) I think that's just the way they go when they relax, altho, I'm not 100% sure I'm right about that fact. Here's the site that I went to when i first started gluing ears - I found it to be most helpful:

I would try bringing the tip of the ear closer IN tho, if you know what I mean...so instead of tiping the ear directly forward, tip it on an angle towards one another, and also I would brace the ears together at the top of his head if there is enough hair to do so. That may help a bit, but I'm not sure how much. It's worth a try tho! If you have a picture, see if you can post a link to it...we might be able to help you better if we can see exactlly what you mean.

This should help you. Pictures and everything!

Keep them glued until he's done teething. If they wing out (go sideways), then you over-compensate by gluing them a too far in. Instead of gluing them straight down, you want to glue them around the inside edge of the ears, only for a couple of weeks, though. Then you would take them down, let them break for a day or so (to see how they fall) and then reglue them in the next appropriate manner (if they're still too far out, you'd glue them in again, if they are falling straight, you would glue them straight.) You only want the top 1/4 to 1/3 of the ear tipped, so if they're tipped at around that spot, you just need to bring them in.

Both previous posts are correct. Bacca's ears tip outwards and hound-like. Unfortunately, I had his ears glued correctly but took the glue out too early and waited too long to put it back in.

I think one of Bacca's pictures on this forum shows a fairly close up picture - the ears were glued down and in, and the fur between the ears twisted and glued together to form a brace. At that time, I was a little over-zealous with the glue between the ears and created quite the "Berlin-wall" - that's what prompted me to remove it too early. I used Speed Sew and was a little heavy-handed! :eek2::lol:

You can also brace with moleskin or Japenese tape. If you use the "search" on this site, there are some excellent posts already.
