Do you feel their ingredient change made any difference? I was thinking about feeding Now! or Acana Grasslands for a slightly lower protein level than Orijen Adult, just so things are more "balanced". Not too high, not too low, keep the peace of the debaters, etc.

Does anyone know if Now's formula was changed too?

Now on dogfoodanalysis is rated 4 star. Go Duck is also a 4. The rest of Go is rated 5. (out of 6 stars)
I know for that website, they're all about meat meat meat and nothing else, so you take what you get. But I was surprised to find out that many are archived (which usually means change of ingredients) and the new stuff isn't rated as highly (unsure which star level it was at before).

Just wondering your thoughts on this.

I take Dog Food Analysis with a grain of salt. It's fine as a resource, but it is not gospel.

They list alot of ingredients but often don't really say why this combination of ingredients is better than another combo.

They certainly are not the definitive source.

I feed my dogs Now! and I believe they changed the ingredients. I'd like to know when exactly they changed it, because Bacca seems less excited about his food now - but that could be coincidence (given the post I'm about to post about Indy).

There could be any number of reasons why they changed the ingredients. As long as its not a drastic change that did not significantly impact fat, protein, etc. then I would not be too worried about it. Too me, it just looks like a shifting up and down in the chain...and perhaps some switches (e.g. Whole rice is now "rice" - what's the difference? and does it matter?)

ITA. Actually, I don't adhere to any "review". This one just caught my eye because Go was archived and had a worse review. I did look for Now on the archives and didn't see anything.

For me, things moving up and down the chain are a worry, because I have no clue how much "less" is going in, if you know what I mean. I put this up, since I know everyone raves about Go and Now and I do like it, however, I keep thinking....is that stuff really filler? or is it good for them?

I think I need a degree to understand doggie nutrition. ;)

I hear you!

And so when I think I've done my best and made a choice - right or wrong - I just remember that my parents dogs were fed dog chow...and lived to grand old ages.

I think we can get far to anal about it. If they dogs are healthy, good weight, good coat, then terrific. If not, then change.

So very true. I think my folks fed Purina One and do you remember the stuff you broke open the bags and it'd be soft food? LOL.
