(Bit Belated) Happy New Year to All!!
Thinking of those of you who are in the middle of the terribly cold weather and hoping you are all OK. Agility seems a long way off at the moment with the weather the way it is (here we have endless wind and rain).
Looking forward to the coming of spring and summer
I am hoping to start competing with Epic. Initially getting some clear rounds would be great (we had our first just before Christmas) and it would be lovely to get a rosette or two.
This year my goal is to really work on my handling skills because at the moment I feel I am letting my boy down with confusing commands and certainly holding him back. I have plenty to work on and have been enjoying Linda Mecklenburg's 'Developing Handling Skills' although not bedtime reading!
Throughout the winter I concentrate on heelwork to music training and I'm noticing that the skills/behaviours we use transfer well into agility, especially the strength and balance tricks. The only downside is I have a dog who is a training addict and is on my case for his daily session!
I also expect 2014 will bring plenty of challenges with the BC I'm also training for agility. He is similar in many respects to Epic but in other ways very different but having two different breeds is really forcing me to think more about what I'm doing rather than running around like an animated windmill!
