Goodbye, Melody

Take care and let us know how you're coping.

Honestly, Barb, I'd be coping much better if I could actually cry. I spent all last night trying to hold back my own sobs so my husband could not worry about me. (Sweetheart that he is, if I cry he shoves all his own feelings to the background to focus on me and I didn't want that.) All day today I've had teary eyes and urges to cry but you can't cry at work.

I think Edan is start to realize Mel isn't coming home. I came back from a quick shopping run and he kept looking behind me into the garage for, I think, Mel. He was starting to act a little mopey so I took him down in our basement to practice his weave pole exercises for a little while. That perked him up a little.

Thanks everyone for your support.

Ah, you need to cry and cry often, whenever you need to. That's what helps you deal with the grief. And sometimes just a little sniffle is enough. Having gone through an awful year of losing both my daughter and my furkid, I allow myself that luxory all the time. It's what keeps me healthy and whole.

And you can cry at work too. You'll be surprised how many people at work will feel your pain.
