Great custom collars!

A breeder friend of mine (happy birthday, Lila's 7 puppies!) posted on FB about these marvelous collars that she had custom-made for her Shelties.

They are very inexpensive ($5.98 each) so I ordered two different colors for Bela. They were delivered yesterday, and I am thrilled with them!

They are made of extremely small-gauge mountain climbing cord (like a very heavy clothesline). They are adjustable, and come with a small ring to attach ID tags. The cord is round, and won't mat your Sheltie's fur. In fact, I couldn't even SEE Bela's when I put it on her.

These are not intended to be "working" collars - they won't take a lot of stress. (They are actually sold as CAT collars in a custom size.) However, I ordered Bela's primarily because where I live, it's mandatory to have a dog's tags (rabies, microchip, dog license) on them at all times. It works wonderfully for that!

Here is the product I'm talking about:

The metal ferrules (according to my breeder friend) do not cause any coat discoloration.

Woo I like how they break away! Looks like a great inexpensive choice for a tag collar! Thanks for sharing with us!

I just contacted them (super fast response, <2 hours!) and they now have a dog version of the collar for head/necks 14-20 inches. It is supposed to be a bit more substantial. They also have a larger size listed on Amazon.

They said to go with a cat collar if the dog is smaller than that (Olive's head is 12" and neck is 11" so I feel safer going with the cat collar). Looks like you still have to order the cat collars off their site rather than Amazon.
