grooming supply list?

While on the subject..... Can white on white be used on my new Tri without dulling the black in his coat? Or would I need white on white for his white area and black on black for his black area? Reason I ask is because both Cleo and Relic's white leg fur keeps getting stained when they go outside and no matter how much I wash their feet and legs when they come in, they are still slightly stained. And it is driving me nuts! haha

Before I went to the groomers Sca was a white on white guy. It makes his black look shiny but not white. And his white is glowing it is so white. Never did Spitfire (yet). I was hoping baths all around before racing this weekend but maybe next weekend. I still have some white on white but it is low.
 
My favourite tool is the bikini shaver! Forget scissors on poop chutes. This is super gentle and gets the job done. easy without mistakes.

I also use the shaver to finish the boys toes. After the paws have been trimmed the pads and underneath, I do a once over with the Shaver. Creates a pretty good
looking paw.

As to products....when I first joined this forum I was super into various products....I actually stopped using most of them years ago. I found most of them created a build up and made the coat sticky. So for the past 5 years, by boys get a bath, conditioner and blow dry. And blow out and brush out. They aren't show dogs, so they don't need Ice on Ice or any other CC product, or any product beyond that. Any other products, just makes them sticky, and needing another groom sooner.
 
Oh, and for trimming.....I rediscovered the little nail scissors with rounded edges at the pharmacy for around the ears. Short and risk free. Yeah, they don't last but you throw them away and get a new set . But I still use my really good shears for fine jobs.

I would still invest though in a good set of thinning shears though. I still like CC for those

As for shampoo....I would use black on black only if your dogs black coat is getting rusty (that happens in the sun, but it does grow back black eventually)
White on white.....again only if necessary. It gets tricky to shampoo a multi coloured sheltie if you try to use multiple shampoos. Maybe on the legs only? In my mind, though, just a good batch every 4-6 weeks, and rub down after a run in the mud, and my dogs are pretty clean. I've decided that less works as much as more,and stopped being anal about it.
 
Gosh, I'm back again.....I always to mention that Lawrence Tender Care Slickers are the best ever! My groomer and I both love these brushes. And cheap.....probably between $15-30 dpending on size and your supplier. You can get them online as well. Love, love, love this slicker. I found it and got my groomer hooked on it too.

Also so say that I discovered that you don't have spend $100s of dollars on tools. There are a really good alternatives for the home groomer.
