Hair behind the ears

In between baths the fine hair behind Missy's ears gets a little greasy and gets little tangles easily. I know this is a common problem. I've been using baby powder to try and get rid of the grease, but I'm wondering if there is a better method or powder? Baby powder is essentially cornstarch, but does regular cornstarch work better? Should I try a dry shampoo? These tangles are driving me nuts and I'm sure Missy isn't enjoying it much either..

I use cornstarch if I have to. It works great, as does baby powder. If you don't brush every day, at least try to brush this area every few days.

That might be part of the problem.. I haven't been as diligent as I usually am about brushing her out. Bad Sheltie owner..

I was gone for 2 weeks and hubby brushed Hanna once! :gaah

She had major tangles behind both ears as well as one nasty fully engorged tick (pulled it to take to the vet as the health unit is wanting to test them this year). It took almost an hour but she's back to her usual state and I didn't need to use the scissors. Next time I go away I'll book a grooming appointment in the middle of the trip.

I haven't tried cornstartch but I may give that a shot.

I don't get them brushed as much as I should. With arthritis developing in the hands, it is really hard to hold the brushes some days.
