Hair loss after puppies

I know shelties loose their fur after puppies. But is there a reason why? Also, are there other breeds that do this? I asked my boss who is a GSD breeder, and her females don't go bald. Just always been kind of curious about this.

its hormonal that they lose their fur, and they dont go bald. All breeds do this, its just more noticeable with breeds that have a double coat. Short coated breeds can literally wean and be out the next weekend showing.
