Hi, I found this site looking for answer to my Sheltie's outcropping of tissue growth from his paws. Since I couldn't here then, I took him to the groomer and so he would smell sweet for the Vet. if I needed to go see him. The groomer had never seen anything like it. So I was able to see the Vet last Saturday and basically they are like corns or calluses on people's feet, but has really gotten out of control. He said that older dogs get these more often than younger ones. :sadsmile:
The Vet treated him, Timmy, my Sheltie, with a long looking matchstick which he would run under water to activate a burning type of chemical that would turn his "calluses" black and eventually the dog will chew them off or they would rub off while he is walking on pavement. Then new growth of tissue on his pads should come up and not cause problems. I can also keep them at bay by using Hydrogen Peroxide on the growths and gradually the tissue will die off and new tissue will replace it.
Anyway, I'm glad I made the search and found this place and meeting some of you Sheltie owners.

I named my Sheltie, Timmy because the couple that gave him to me at 6 1/2 weeks old & two days before Christmas, 9 years ago, was my Dr Timothy and his wife, Cindy who are our friends and Timothy is related to my Sis in Law.
Anyway, I would visit Cindy and when I knocked on her door two loud Shelties were barking inside and greeted me at the door! I was very pleased with this and told Cindy that I had a couple of Shelties while growing up and love them. But didn't have one during my married life as my husband had been a milk man for his father's Dairy Plant and rural dogs are not happy with milk men so he wasn't fond of the idea of having a dog. I was lucky to have a cat when the farm cat had kittens and he let me bring the kittens into the house, (which was my in laws basement, not a good idea for newly weds).
DH grew to love house kittens as his mother didn't believe in animals in the house. So when I got this cute puppy as a surprise from my friends they told me they had checked with DH if it was okay. Well, I named him Timmy very quickly and then Dr Tim asked if "I wanted a Lassie?" I said, "Well, lets get use to having a dog in the family first, as that was a concern as they take more attention than a cat.
So we quickly learned about puppies and their needs and he would tinkle outside on the grass just outside our frontdoor. There was snow on the ground, now no grass!
Anyway, we all loved him and he was fun to have around and has been my buddy ever since! The grown up children and DH are jealous of the attention he gets from me, but then he always greets me with a Smile!
