You'll find the Shelties and cats mix very well. I think somewhere in the Sheltie gene pool someone snuck in a cat....because they often have cat-like tendencies. They are generally fastidious, can sometimes be reserved, but love to pounce and jump on moving targets (ankles are the best!).

And yes, I've actually caught Bacca licking his paw and wiping his face...and I don't even have cats at the moment!

Welcome. Barb is right sheltie and cats make a good combo. My shelties love my cat and he loves them. Here are a couple of pictures of them. Diva the tri has Tanner down but a few minutes after the picture,he was in control.

got my girl

Hi All, this is going to be long......

Thursday evening I went and picked up my sable and white puppy girl.
I will post pics as soon as i can.
Her name is Gertie...cause when we brought her home she kept grunting and groaning when she was picked up or handed off to someone else. It was puppy naptime when we arrived at the breeder's house.I stopped at my parent's house and she got to meet their 4 chihuahua's..lots of barking ...but not from Gertie.

When I got home we had halloween scaredy looking cats..they are getting better.The 3 boy cats sit and stare at her when she is in her crate.Today I took her to a pet shop to get a little puppy coat..she is small and it is getting cold now. She is 7 weeks old,8 inches tall and weighs 3.3 pounds. We then visited my grandma and her pomeranian..lots of barking, but not Gertie again.

The pom wanted to play but i don't think Gertie was comfortable enuff to. Most of the visit was spent with her sleeping beside my grandma. I also found out that she could fit under the deck at grandma's...luckily I caught her in time. She whines when she needs to go out which was good to find out..I avoided a mess in the car.

My kids both love her... she went right up to them, both were able hold her on her back like a baby. Now she is starting to play with the cats and vice versa. We finally heard her bark cause she was being triple teamed by the cats.

Congratulations on your new puppy. Being a sheltie, I'm sure Gertie (cute name) will find her voice soon enough and you'll be longing for the days when she was quiet. Shelties tend to be very vocal. Enjoy the quiet while you can and I'm sure Gertie will be a joy.
