Hello from Long Island

Those are some great names Listarz!! Looking forward to seeing pics of your new addition . Please forgive me if I offended you in any way, it was not meant. So welcome again to the forum of being owned by a Sheltie !!

Thanks elaine! Please don't be sorry. :biggrin2: I wondered the same thing myself about it being too soon but I just can't stand the silence.

Welcome to the group. I am sorry to hear about your loss as well. I completly understand what you are going through as well. We lost our Sheltie/Beagle mix girl in May of '07 at 12 and our Goldent Retriever a month later at 14. We couldn't take not having a dog in the house so we started adopting Shelties and I now have 3 girls. I still miss my other two but having the other 3 has helped me a ton. All 3 of them crack me up daily. Can't wait to see the pics of the new puppy and good luck with the name!!

Thanks for the welcome! Wow, 2 in one month. I can't even imagine! So sorry. You have 3 shelties now, huh? I have the opportunity to get a 14 mo old sheltie as well as the puppy. I'm seriously considering it. The only thing stopping me is I have 17 year old twins heading off to college next fall and I'm not sure I can take on the added vet bills for the older one at this time.

Hello from Ottawa Ontario Canada

I had a Sheltie while I was growing up. She died at 12 years when I was 14 years old myself.

My 12 year old died suddenly from complications from a tumour in his chest just a few months ago. I never thought I would get another pup because losing Timber was just so hard.

But it only took a few days for me to decide to get another pup. And yes, I looked at other breeds, but it always came back to a Sheltie.

I now have a beautiful boy who is 14 weeks. I have had him for 5 weeks. He is a dream boy. Except for the herding nipping and biting - I'll be posting questions on that soon :-)

It's very worth it to have two of them together even if there is a little added expense. Actually the older one will be a little less expensive than the puppy right now, not as many shots! My three entertain each other all the time!

Hey Barb,
I'll be looking forward to seeing the responses you get, as I'm sure i'll have similar questions! Keep us posted!

mcguiregirl,
I still haven't made up my mind yet. I keep waffling back and forth. Good point on the older dog being less expensive. I'll let you know what we decide.
