Hello From Queensland :D

Charlie is very handsome. Very Kelpie. You do know that there can be 2 or more sires for a litter. So if mom was bred to a pure bred Kelpie and then a BC jumped the fenceand bred her too there can be purebred Kelpies and mixes in the same litter. Regardless great looking dog. The kelpies I've met rival the BC for intensity

I've had a few people tell me that when I say he's meant to be a kelpie cross. I've stopped bothering to correct people, now; if they say he's just a kelpie, he can be just a kelpie. He's actually really lazy; fifteen minutes of fetch and he's snoring away in his crate until lunchtime- and then of course it's time for his midday nap :rolleyes2: But stick him on an agility course and I can't keep up. He gets a bit... excited... about his agility

Hi welcome to the forum. I’ve just joined too. Don’t worry about long term planning for a puppy, in my book half the fun is looking forward to it, deciding what breeder to go to and what colour you want. Even trying out some names in advance. I waited 3 years to get Revel while I finished college and was going to get sheltie 3 when Yogi was four but the stork got muddled and brought a baby instead (!) so I’ve been waiting three years for my next pup. I wanted one around Revel’s 12th birthday as I thought he would not be too old to tolerate puppy but perhaps old enough not to want to play so much with Yogi, I’m on hold with a couple of breeders but it all depends so much on whether the mating works and what’s in the litter as to how soon it’s all going to happen. My first choice didn’t work out as I want a tri and the breeder used a sable dog so had sables but I reckon that when you’re ready then your sheltie will be too. :smile2:

As it turns out, I'm now looking at getting my pup while I'm still at home, hopefully sometime within the next six to twelve months :D I'm very excited and have started emailing breeders.

Best of luck with your upcoming pup, seashel, and I completely agree; my pup's out there somewhere, and I know she'll turn up when the moment's perfect :)

I know she'll turn up when the moment's perfect :)

The puppies that perfect for us always turns up at the right moment. It certainly happened with Emma. She became available on the very day I lost Noah, although I didn't know that until the next day. I lost Noah on a Saturday and by the Sunday night, I had passed the puppy questionnaire and only had to wait for a home inspection, which passed with flying colours the following Thursday. Due to scheduling issues with the breeder and myself, I had to wait for two weeks to get her. I fell in love with her picture and knew she was the one. When I saw her in puppy flesh and held her, there was no doubt in my mind she was the one God meant for us. She did not become a replacement but became another "child" in our family. Even Emma's mom, Aubrey, seemed to put her seal of approval on me, as did Emma's great-grandma Katie.

Keep emailing breeders, watching the papers, online advertising. Emma's breeder advertised on line which is how I found her (a breeder of champions for 20 years). When the time is right for you to have a puppy, the puppy that is right for you will be there waiting for you to take him/her home. Keep us updated on your search and pictures are an absolute must when you did find your heart puppy.
