his first wiggle!

my instructor teaches the channel weaves, last week the channels were about 4" apart and Justus wiggled all the way through 12 of them in his greed for the cookie on the target. I was so proud. He wiggled! :smile2:

Tonight we try again!

also.. don't know if this is typical, but the first course we did he went over the teeter just fine. I think he scared himself a little, because the 2nd and 3rd time he balked and it took a cookie on his nose to get him to "tip-it" again....

Awesome!!Love watching them work!!

congrats on good classes:smile2:

does your instructor let them bang the teeter first?
lots of people have the dog put their front paws on the teeter so that they can move it without being on it and hear the noise before experiencing the actual teeter movement and riding it down to the ground.

I've been holding off on the teeter for Destin and Jocu- they have lots of other things to master before we get there.....

We have spent time on him "slamming" the end of the board by jumping on the unweighted end, probably spent 4-5 of the class hours on that. He didn't exactly like it but he would do it for a cookie.

Had a little set-back when they wanted me to catch the end of the board... (he weighs a ton) when he was tipping it, that frightened both of us a bit, and set up back some... so it was back to slamming the end.

Now he will go over the first time, but balks when we repeat the course again. I think it will take more time and experience, and really good treats.

Eventually I'm sure he will get it!

And... last night, more wiggling through the weaves. This week he experiemented with popping out of the poles before the end and hopefully made the connection that he did not get a cookie until the very last pole, but we will see. Can't wait till next week! Instructor said I should have weave poles at home. Sigh... and so it begins, I sprout a garden of pvc in my yard.

weave poles are one of the things that we have- practice is what gets you through those.

Justus can conquer the teeter- Dixie did.
we had done a little teeter work in class but she could do everything else - so one night, we were running a course. I had planned to bypass the teeter but Dixie had other ideas and ran up it and off the end... it never had a chance to get to the ground before she was on the ground...
she wasn't hurt and apparently not too traumatized because she did the same thing the next week. so we got serious about the teeter- lots of cookies- holding it and letting her down, etc.
so now, I have to keep an eye on the teeter and where it is in the course- otherwise, she'll decide that's what she wants to do that instead of whatever we're supposed to be doing:winkgrin:
she actually slipped off it in a trial- was foggy outdoor trial- and I was calling her to move on to the next section of the course but she got back on and did it all by herself. then she jumped on the table and slid right off it so that wasn't our best run......
