Histiocytoma?

So gavin has a new ouchie..
its about the size of a pencil eraser on his chest and slightly raised.
I don't know if this is a side effect of his being on pregnisone for his flea allergy or not. I took some pictures, but they don't convey the way it feels..Its almost like a blister feel, squishy like there is fluid in it.

It appears to fit a histiocytoma pretty well; anyone have any experience with them? They apparently usually self-resolve in a few months. I will monitor and see what happens over a few days and decide what to do
 
Histiocytomas are generally firm and solid not fluid filled.

I looked at the pictures hard to determine as it is a bit blurry but it looks like a pustule possible from a staph infection. The skin looks a bit flakey over the lesion. If it doesn't come to a head in a head or 2 or gets larger have the vet check it out.
 
Its not scabby or scaley..
pretty smooth.
only raised minimally, like a small bump.

Kinda reminds me of one of my birthmarks..a small facial wart.
will just keep an eye on it for a few days and see what happens.
 
So we had gavin's yearly vet check up and had her take a look. She agreed it looked like a histiocytoma, but sent an aspiration out. It was confirmed as benign. She wants to remove it. It is on his chest, has never been an issue. I don't want to put my 9 year old dog under for unnecessary surgery. Is she just saying this to get me to fork out $$$? She left a phone msg, so I didn't get to raise of any of this with her. I will call her back in a few weeks (I am going on vacation)

I'm glad it turned out to be benign. I would watch it to see if it grows, if it's not growing, then the surgery is up to you. But if it was my 10 year old, as long as it was benign and not growing nor bothering her, I wouldn't operate. That being said, if it's growing, I'd remove it ASAP

I did a hot compress with castor oil for a week, it scabbed over and it now gone!

it was a remedy suggested online and I figured I would try it. was not expecting the bleeding/scabbing part, though. I bandaged it up with purple wrap, kept it clean, and Gavin let it be. but he sure looked funny!
