How do Crypton fabric beds hold up to abuse?

So Crypton is supposed to be this super awsome fabric that won't allow water to penetrate, or anything else. It's easy to clean and all this super great stuff...

But how well does it hold up to abuse? Vash will likely spend his evenings digging, gnawing, or just "nesting" in what ever bed I get him. I can't imagine the fabric will continue to do it's job once he's clawed his way through it, or bitten a hole in it.
 
I have six beds made from the Crypton. They are the thin pads. Only one has been chewed. The claims about the water and such are totally true. They don't hold water, at all. I just throw mine in the wash, and they come out like new.
 
Yes I too share the same view about the water bit! Juliet digs at her bed, as in really trying to dig a hole to China sort of dig, and it's just fine.
