How do you all feel about this treat?

Orijen is a great food but I’ve always heard it’s too rich for Shelties. Maybe the same is true of their treats. I’d hold onto the bag just in case and let Chewy know they made your dog sick. I hope he’s ok…please let us know.

Yes I would let the company know. Anything can become contaminated at the plant where it's made, or the ingredients just don't agree with your pup, but if more dogs are sick then the manufacturer needs to know.

I would have to first ask how much did you feed? You mention 'some'.
Origen is a great brand, ingredients are good. Treats are 5 calories each and will be rich as they are grain free.
Before reporting to the company, is this user error with too much of a good thing with something new? If your dog is not used to the richness of grain free food items, a few too many could cause digestive upsets. I think more info is needed. If you only gave 1 or 2 and see digestive upsets, yes, I would call the company. If you gave more, I might still call the company but it also may have been too much of a good thing. I always test new items, going slow to introduce anything new.
I feed Origen to my cats but feed my Shelties Fromm. I would have no issue giving that to my dogs but it would be only a treat or two - I like low calorie treat items so I can give more items - I watch my dogs waistlines - habit from our days with doxies.
I hope your pupper is okay. If loose stool, you can go with a bland diet and slowly add in canned plain pumpkin to stiffen up stool. There are also aids on the market to stiffen up the stool and get the gut back in order; Pro-Pectalin tablets are one such item but if your pupper is really sick, a vet visit may be in order. Watch for signs of dehydration; check the nose and gums.

I’m sorry your dog isn’t feeling well and I hope this passes quickly! I’ve never fed this brand of treats (I usually make my own dehydrated treats ) but when I do buy them I’ve never had my dogs get sick from them. There has been a time or two when one of my dogs has eaten ‘something’ and gotten sick (vomiting) and there really was no cause. Dogs eat all sorts of things (mine eat grass and weeds) and they could easily eat a mouldy leaf or such causing stomach upset (I think this is what happened to mine last year). It could be the treats but it could just be coincidental.
Did you take your dog to the vet? It might be a good idea if they’re vomiting to get them checked for a blockage and maybe something to settle the stomach.

I thank everybody for their comments. The hard part of this ordeal is I am not there. Every winter I take a 2 week trip and my sweet niece takes care of my Barkley. He is a shy dog and changes bother him. When I leave he usually doesn't eat for a few days but never gets sick. This time he actually stated eating sooner than usual and seemed to have matured. Then after a few days in he was vomiting and non solid stools. We were just wondering what caused this and only speculate it was these new treats she gave him. I have no idea how many but believe she wouldn't over do it. He is feeling better now and the stools are finally starting to firm up. I guess we may never know what caused this. Thanks everybody.
