How many breeders is too many?

Sometimes a breeder has what they think are performance/show puppies, and start to grow them out. They find for whatever reason, they are not suitable for show/performance, and then offer them to pet homes.

With Emma, she was a singleton. If she had not had an underbite, she would not likely have been available for me to get for a pet as there are a lot of champions in her line on both sides.

I guess what I am saying, don't rule out a breeder if they say an upcoming litter is for show/performance. Ask if they will consider putting you on a list if one of the puppies doesn't make it for the standards they are looking for that way, but would make an excellent pet puppy. I have not gone wrong with Emma or her nephew Liam.

Well, I'm not the most reliable info source out there, but I don't see anything wrong with that.

I knew, from the beginning, that I wanted a male sable or tri. I reserved my puppy in August (not so many breeders here, and this one was the only one with a litter planned for the summer vacations. Since they seemed really responsible, I decided to trust them). Lucien was born during the last week of December, and he was a singleton, so I was really lucky to be the first in the list :).

The only unexpected problem was that he is a show puppy, but the breeder said I could buy him if I compromised to show him. We are going to our first show in 3 weeks, so you can guess the rest :P
