Hi everybody!

I'm new here. I grew up with a lovely Sheltie and now my brother owns one. I absolutely adore them, but I might be leaving the country in September so it would be unrealistic for me to adopt just yet. In the meantime, I am going to be a foster mom, which will be a way for me to get Sheltie love and contribute to a good cause at the same time. I'm here to look around for tips about fostering (also to look at cute pictures, haha).

If you've ever fostered a Sheltie and you have any helpful information, send me a message if you have the time/inclination.

Welcome!
We were actually in the same boat last spring (considering a grad program in the UK, moving from Texas, didn't want to subject a dog to the travel) but ended up staying in the country.

Were you looking to foster with one of the Texas-based Sheltie Rescues (Austin, Houston, DFW, Texas Collie & Sheltie, think there might be one near San Antonio) or a local shelter? I know each of the Sheltie Rescues (we got our Olive through ASR) has their own guidelines for what they are looking for in a foster. But fair warning, Olive's foster parents' first foster was a "failure" (they adopted him).

Thanks everybody. I'm going to work for the Austin group, but they haven't gotten back to me yet. I'm going to call on Monday. I can't wait! But I might have to wait a little longer to start, until my boyfriend gets back in the country.
