Humping all of a sudden??

I was hoping someone could explain this behavior to me. My oldest, 10, has started humping my youngest 1. He never did this before. Both are male and neutered. My DH even said that Miko, the oldest, woke up and then started humping Koji. Seemed so odd.

I know it can be a dominance thing, but why would it start almost 1.5 years after we brought Koji home? Typically, he does the biting on the neck and then pinning Koji down bit.

Just seemed strange to start the other day. Any thoughts?

I'm not concerned about it, cuz nothing can come of it, it just seemed so out of sorts with Miko. And the dynamics btwn the two.

That does sound a little unusual. I wonder if something had happened between the two that you might not have noticed and now he is trying to be the dominate one. I don't have any suggestions for you but I'm curious to see what others might say.

The only thing I can think of that has changed....is that Koji has become more assertive due to agility training and I think because he's now at daycare with the big dogs. He's still subordinate to Miko as far as I can tell (he flips over on his back almost right away). Do you think Miko senses his new found assertiveness and is making sure Koji knows his place? hmmm....inquiring minds want to know.

I remember Timber went through a phase like that - it may have been around 8 or 10 years. It didn't last for long, but all of a sudden he seemed to be in love with everyone and everything!

I think it was male menopause!
