Hypo to hyperthyroid

The three year I have had Max he has been hypothyroid, yeast infections, allergies, pancreatitus, slight sludge etc. I take him to allergist, reg vet and internest! He is now crying to eat, worst then before. My doctor has not adjusted his meds and I don't know what to do. I have run out of options. All my internest wants is for me to go to a nationalist. I have been given him chicken, string beans and kale since his last pancreas attack in December. His signs are minimal except for being hungry very often. I have run out of dr. What can I do.
Please help my poor fur baby and a frustrated mom. Max is now six and we have been trying to get him well for almost three years now!

Has he had the full T5 bloodwork done for his thyroid?

If your vet refuses to do it, then find another vet fast! Shelties are in the top 10 breeds for this disease. It's more common than you think, but even then still often misdiagnosed by vets.

Yes, been trying to get his thyroid up for over two years. Left one vet already because he wouldn't put max on soloxine. I have a vet, internest and allergist!
Cut back on his soloxine from .4 2 x day to .4 once a day and .2 daily. He seem better, not as anxious or ravenous. But he is on temerol p and has yeast issues working on also. Just worry about his pan realities. It's been an on going struggle since rescue ing him. But he is so loving. So I just keep on segueing with all. The vets except my allergist. He does care!

You say his signs are minimal except he is hungry all the time - is he losing a lot of weight, or is he very thin? (Sorry, i have not followed the story in awhile.) If not, it sounds like you are doing ok.

I would be careful not to micromanage the thyroid that closely. It is not easy to produce hyperthyroidism in the dog with meds. I can not recall it ever having been a problem in my patients, actually. So if he seems hyperactive and hungry for a couple of days I would not jump to conclusions. Its a little like the stock market - don't check your stocks every day, you'll drive yourself crazy. See how you are doing every 10 days or so.

Rememeber, as I have said before, your dog picks up on your anxieties and this can exacerbate their stress. you have to be cool for the patient's sake. If 'signs are minimal', relax and enjoy a bit.
