I just took Trinity for her first walk around the block today, I dont know what I got myself into!! She has always been the fiesty one of the litter, very outgoing with no fear, today I got to see how spunky she is! First she BARKS!! alot, everything new she encounterd she had to bark at, and run up to it, and smell it. Anybody walking by had to be barked at, and cars that dared to drive by had to be chased! I am going to have to get this under control now before it gets worse. Next walk I will have to make sure I have treats with me, so I can try and distract her.

My biggest concern is the car chasing, none of my other dogs were interested in cars at 10 weeks old, actually I only have 1 that would chase cars and she never did on walks only when in the yard off leash.

My mom-in-law's sheltie pup was car obsessed. It was almost like he was born freaked out over them hehe. Her trainer had her put him in a sit every time a car drove by, before the car got to them. She would then have him watch her while the car passed. If he did this corretly, he got a treat.

It took a few months but now he totally ignores cars..

Layla lunged at every car as a puppy. We did Leave It and Sit, Leave It. Didn't take long.

I know that Lexi is easily distracted on walks. She's getting a bit better, but slowly :) She doesn't seem interested in cars, but she's interested by pretty much everything else. Treats and distraction work (sit, look at me, etc) have worked well.

Of course she seems to know when I have no cookies..
