I am so proud of Cosmo!

I was working with a dog trainer today and he gave examples using his dog about training methods. The talk lasted a little over an hour, but the examples shown using his own dog lasted only ten minutes or so.

So I come home, and try to work with my most difficult boy Cosmo. In the space of about half an hour I taught him to lay down (before he always stood up from a sitting position when I tried), beg and give the paw. Still a little rough, but this is a HUGE step for not only him, but for me actually getting how it's done.

Shelties really are smart little fellas, I can't believe how quickly he caught on. Can't wait to work with Jet, but he'll need to do the training by himself as Cosmo loves getting in the picture. I am honestly so happy today! :biggrin2:

It is definetely super rewarding when you see a trick come together! I can't think of much I enjoy more than seeing Honey's brain work away at something, they just shine when they're being clever!

When he started figuring out how to give the paw, he seemed to get so excited about getting a treat for it, sometimes he even threw in two paws maybe thinking he'll get two treats! Haha.

Teach him to wave too - once he has the handshake down, ask for the paw. When he reaches move your hand back and hold it up palm out. I'm working on Emma to do this - she used to high five.
