I love kongs

I really do. I have renewed my love for it.

Little Juliet is a noise maker. 24/7. From the minute she wakes up which, at 7:30 am in the morning, is probably not what my neighbours want to hear or be jolted awake by. I would have to say "quiet" several times before I got dressed for work! Very stressful and having to always run for treats to reward her quietness is disruptive to my morning routine!

Last night I had an epiphany. I remembered how it was that I got Romeo to learn to be quiet in the mornings. He is generally quiet even now unless Juliet provokes him.

KONGS! (This is not an ad. I don't work for them, really.)

I filled 2 kongs with some raw minced meat (that had Vibrant Pets mixed in) and left them in the freezer last night.

This morning, the minute I (and the dogs) got up, I ushered them to their peeing area then immediately went to get their Kongs. NOT A SQUEAK came from either of them after that!! I could go through my morning ritual in absolute silence. They were hard at work trying to get the frozen meat out. What a great morning! Guess what's going to be in the freezer again tonight!

Thought I'd share in case any one of you might be facing a similar demanding attention-seeking furry little problem!

I'm a big fan of Kongs simply because it seems to be the only toy Fluffy can't destroy. I have bought the crunchy peanut butter Kong brand treats to go inside, but I have never tried the Kong Stuff 'n. Everybody says it's too messy, but I put regular peanut butter in Smudge's Kong once, and he licked everything clean. :uhoh:

Kongs are the best.

I love kongs too!

I usually fill them with pumpkin or canned food and then freeze them over night. It keeps Bailey nice and quiet for about 30-40 minutes

Emma loves her kongs. I have one that we put peanut butter in and one we put processed cheese spread in. She just loves them. I do too, except like now, when they get thrown at me to fill. I have also stuffed them with her kibble if she isn't eating her food. This always works. I did have a can of spray peanut butter that I used but I ran out and just use ordinary peanut butter. I'll have to try the pumpkin. I sure she would love it. Wonder if bananas would work.

They really should use the tag line 'Kongs, they keep your dog busy and quiet!'

I've used mashed bananas mixed with peanut butter! It's messy if not frozen! I think freezing helps with the messiness definitely.

Another quiet morning today. Heeheehee. I wonder if they realise I'm manipulating them to do what I want. I don't think they care so long as they are getting food!!

Will try the cheese!!

Will try the cheese!!

I put cheese cubes in Smudge's kong. He loves them.

The only bad thing about having a sheltie - they are too smart for their own good. He'll put the kong in his mouth (the end opposite where the treats come out) and shake his head side to side until all the treats go flying out. :rolleyes2:

My chihuahua brings it to the top of the stairs and throws it down.
