This weekend, I'm here at one of my favorite trials of the year- the Indiana Collie Club trial in Indianapolis, Indiana. I've been to trials at this facility several times now, and it is a trial where Athena always seems to have some of her fastest runs. Today was day one of two. Tomorrow, I'll post more results.
Today, Athena earned double Q #11, and has now officially earned all of the MACH points she needs for her first MACH. She now has 772 MACH points, surpassing the 750 needed. They will now be rolling over and counting toward MACH2. She ended up Qing and taking a second place in standard, earning 39 MACH points for the run, and doing 4.5yps. She also ended up Qing in jumpers, and earned 22 MACH points, took second place, and did 4.9yps on that run. There were only 3 dogs in the entire trial who ran that course faster than her- shame one of them was another 12"er. The other two were a BC from 20", and a dog from 26". Nothing else touched her time. I was very impressed with her run. Hopefully tomorrow will go just as well!

Stacey, that's great! Way to go, Athena! And way to go, Stacey, too!

If she has all her points...what else does she need for her MACH? Or does she have it already? Sorry, I'm not sure how that works!

Well, the weekend finished up pretty nicely. I arrived at the trial to get Athena's ribbon this morning, and when I was looking for her stickers (self serve ribbon station), I discovered Kai also Q'd and won the excellent a standard class! It was a nice surprise, as I thought she had NQ'd. Kai has been on a bit of an obstinant streak recently, and if she could give me the finger, she would've many times over recently, as she is so confident now that she has been going and taking things she doesn't have permission to take (and IS getting the cues and verbals that say she is to do what I'm asking, not what she feels like). This is her last trial until sometime in December, as she will be on maternity leave for a while.
Anyhow, today went pretty well. Athena had a nice, fast run in jumpers, but the weaves were really in the way, and a friend said it caused her to pull around a jump, as it didn't leave the handler room to get into a good spot. Then in standard, Athena came away with a Q, a first place, and 40 MACH points. It was nice to finally get a win under our belts this weekend, even if it doesn't amount to anything. She already has her masters titles, and all of her MACH points toward her first MACH, so all the points will do is roll over, and all she can really use are double Qs. Individual runs really count for nothing other than spare points for us right now.
This is the last trial until November. With a litter on the way, I decided not to do the other trial, as it is just too close to the due date, and I didn't want to chance being away from home. I guess it'll be nice to take a small break, since we've been trialing for the last three weekends.

Athena: awesome as always.

And what a pleasant surprised to have Qd with Kai, too!

Looking forward to hearing about and seeing pictures of her babies. What an exciting time!

Congrats on getting all the points. I see you need 9 more QQ's for the MACH. You guys can do this!!! I expect to see it on here sometime soon. Sounds like you two had a really good weekend. She is one fast dog.
