Indoor issues

So Cleo has decided that different contacts and being indoors is very scary. She would not go on the A frame at all. About half way up she turned around and jumped off. Then the table today scared her. Along with the A frame. She was so spooked she took off to the tunnel... I got her out and then just ran to the finish jump. I have no idea what spooked her but it was bad. I know this is her first indoor trial so it may take some time. Anyone have this issue before?

Aw, Cleo :-( I haven't had exactly your experience, but Spirit is having a lot of trouble in the ring too. I've entered her in a UKI agility trial because you're allowed to bring a toy into the ring (and if that tug toy happened to be dipped in bacon grease, even better ). Also, if you notify them that you are doing an NFC run (Not For Competition), you basically get the standard course time to do WHATEVER you want without being whistled out of the ring. Maybe that would be something that would help Cleo too.

That's a brilliant idea! Also ASCA allows training in the ring. http://www.asca.org I've never done one of their trials, but I know several people that are, because AKC was too intense and it was freaking their dogs out.

We've had problems in some indoor venues because the lighting is weird. Echo started mistaking the Teeter for the Dog Walk and diving off of it because the lighting is so dim in there that a lot of dogs couldn't tell the difference. Those obstacles might look weird and scary to Cleo in dim light. I love Cara's idea. Are there any UKI trials near you?

I'm not sure. I will have to look and see.
