Indy in my face!

Indy clearly is a dog that wants lots and lots of attention.

I let him out of his crate, I let him in from outside, I look at him and he's jumping all over and licking my face. I put the pups on the bed with me in the morning and he's all over me.

He's also very greedy when it comes to food and treats. He gulps his meals as if he can't get it in fast enough...though I know he was fed in his own crate so didn't have to fight off other dogs. I have to be careful with treats else he'll grab my hand (i'm working on that with "leave it" and having some success)

He was mostly raised in a kennel environment, so I can see where this comes from somewhat. It's like it's my turn out of the crate so I get all the attention and now! Any suggestions as to how to "break" him of this "kennel behaviour"?

Have you tried ignoring him...I know its easier said then done when they are in your face!....although I have to admit I have one of those !! Not much has worked for me...I told her the other day she needs to learn manners!! interested to see if anything works for anyone else!! Its horrible at treat time here she pinging off everyone while they all sit patiently waiting...she's obnoxious!! but its a great attitude for the ring so im letting it slide a bit!

My two girls are very well behaved about treats too but Barkley the boy is a wild man. At age two he still will take your finger off for a treat, although he does at least sit for it. THEN he takes your finger off! He is also a face licker. Big, wet, *sloppy* kisses! I wonder if it's a boy thing...

Callie is a shark when it comes to taking treats- but only if there are other dogs around. It's like she's afraid she won't get any unless she takes the fingers too. When she's alone or just with Happy (my mixed breed boy), then she is very gentle with taking treats.

Use "Gentle" said in a soft voice for treat taking. Put your other hand on his chest to control him from lunging at your hand. "Leave it" should be reserved for things he shouldn't touch at all.

That's exactly what's happening now that I'm teaching him "manners!
