Oh yeah, I am "puppy pregnant" and way up high on the list... the waiting is the hardest part! Puppies due June 26th...

I'm craving blue, silvery, puffy, light blue with full white collars... pretty heads, straight toplines, nice fronts, drivey and cuddly and smart...

Dreaming my Princess will come! Or Prince, I'm not picky! :)

Oh, and if at all possible, OVERSIZE!!!

It's good that you know your own mind and what is a good fit for you and your family. Others might have been tempted to just go for it anyway.

The right dog will come along.

I thought I would not find a puppy as quickly as I did but then I stumbled across Callan out of nowhere! I had missed this breeder on various searches...and suddenly she showed up! 'Twas fate!
 
The worst search failure was just before Melli. I found a great Golden. I put my deposit down. I had to wait 3 days for her to have the spay/dental appointment. Someone who saw PENDING on her entry called the rescue and offered them the adoption fee + $1000 to get that dog over whoever it was pending for (me). The shelter called and I knew they had had some high bills recently and I couldn't keep them from their bills so they asked and I agreed to step aside. Funny thing is I had JUST passed up a color-headed white male sheltie for the golden and then ended up with a black tri sheltie several months later. Should have taken BOTH the shelites and called it good!

Eh, turn the thread into epic almost-aquistion fails! Might as well have fun. Some of the recent puppy traumas I know as everyone seems to have a miss or two before a hit this year, but I bet there are many more tales of dogs that "weren't meant to be!"
 
I had epic fail twice in one day -- puppy gone -- see a lovely blue merle aussie from amazing lines. Coloboma. Um, no thank you.

I have had one merle -- after reading about coloboma I am thinking I am done with merles too.

Those sable shelties are looking better and better!

don't give up on the merles if that's what you really want.....
just find a really good breeder and you can get a merle with good eyes.
 
The longer I look, the more I appreciate the expression on the sable sheltie. If I find the right young male sheltie land in my lap, I won't slam the door in his face for sure. What I REALLY want is a color headed white. That would be a 100% yeppers how fast can I drive!
 
Awww! I'm sorry to hear your not getting the little puppy, I haven't been online for a few days so I didn't see this thread until today. I'm sure when the time comes you'll find "the one".

I LOVE CHW's! I've had the opportunity of getting one twice, and both times I was too late. The first one was when I tried to rescue Dixie's sire who was an almost all white sable merle, the day I was going to make an offer to buy him he died of a heat stroke, I was so devastated.:cry: The second was a VERY pretty 7 week old girl from good lines (also nearly all white), but when I called to tell them I'd take her she said that a couple had JUST put down a deposit for her. But I had I gotten her I wouldn't have little Ida Red, Lord works in wonderful ways!:biggrin2:
