Amber Lee will be three months old tomorrow March 19. We brought her home February 7. She has been working hard training us. 99% of the time she uses the papers. We are keeping her in her crate over night. Nothing in the crate in the morning. She goes out very first thing. When she comes back in she goes back into her crate and we give her food. She doesn't eat all of her food but most of it. Then she will go back out to finish her business. The first time out she only does the bare essentials because she wants to come in to eat. The second time out she does a little more and then she will wander around the yard and look for twigs or grass to nibble on. When she comes back in, with in a couple of minutes she will go on the papers. Pee and poop.

Could she be over trained and think she must use the papers to please us? Between my wife and I she is taken out every 2 to 2.5 hrs the rest of the day. This schedule has been working well. Even tho she goes out it seems that she still saves a little for the papers in the kitchen. No matter how long she stays out. Some times she will lay down and just look at you until she comes in.:confused2:

It sounds like she is doing really well with her housebreaking! Honestly, I don't think she needs the paper at all, especially because you and your wife are so dilligent in taking her out often. Just take the papers away and keep an eye on her to make sure that she doesn't make a mistake - I'm sure she'll transition beautifully.

agree!! Shelties are smart little creatures and always willing to please, thus making housebreaking quite easy! Sounds like she never needed the papers to begin with! :) Toss them and move forward!!
