Is There Anything Dawn Dishwashing Liquid Can't Do?

I did probably use more than a dab, Tablespoon maybe. Scary that it can do so much. Ann where do you find what all it can be used for?

Honestly it's not all in one place. I got the recipe for keeping ice from forming on walks from a Facebook post this winter, and it worked! I can't remember where I found the weed-killing formula. I'll bet if you Google "uses for Dawn" or something like that, you could find a bunch of them.

I second not using it as a regular shampoo for dogs. It's good for killing fleas when the dog has them or removing ticks but regular use isn't good for the dog's skin.

For a very long time I have been using Dawn for items I hand wash, skillets and such. I better catch up on everything it can do. I know it cuts grease.

Dawn can be great for many things, but I wouldn't advise using it as a shampoo very often. It can dry the skin and coat out if used too much.

I'd only used Dawn so much because I HAD too. Every month I'd give them two baths, one with Dawn and the other with dog oatmeal shampoo. Nothing I tried would kill the ticks. We spent hundreds (maybe thousands) of dollars on killers in one summer. We treated our yard (front and back) every 4-6 weeks and each time was over $100 each. Then add up the collars, drops, shampoos, ect. It adds up pretty fast. But our yard wasn't the sores of the ticks so not much could be done about it. My main concern was keeping the dogs generally healthy and tick free, it's better to treat them for dry skin than tick fever or other disease that could take they'er life.

Thankfully last year the ticks were at an all time low. Two years ago 'low' would be only 10 ticks a day, high was in the hundreds which wasn't uncommon. Last year the high was 20, low 2-3 a week. I'm hoping on 2-3 a month this year!

I use dawn to keep the no see ums from coming into our patio. When we lived in Naples and had a pool those bugs were everywhere. I put dawn into a spray bottle and sprayed the entire screen from top to bottom and never had another no see um in the screen patio cage.
I also use dawn with peroxide and it beats any stain remover on the market. It has taken out blood and ink and things normally I could never get out. I learned about mixing it with peroxide from the nurses when I worked in the hospital.

That's fantastic! What's the ratio of Dawn to peroxide?

I believe it is 2 parts peroxide to one part dawn or any dish detergent with a degreaser. I use an old small size dish soap bottle and just do 2/3 rd of peroxide and 1/3 soap and shake it up. This way I can squirt directly onto the stain. I have used it on carpet when I cut my cats toenail to short and got blood on the carpet, I used it on my scrubs when I worked at the hospital. Use it for neck stains on my friends shirts and underarm stains. works great on most anything. I don't use it on dark clothes like black or navy pants however. When you put it on you can actually see the stain lift right up and disappear. I had blood stains on a really nice new kitchen woven seat cushion, I was upset. I zipped it open and put a towel under and did it slowly little by little and it disappeared, never came back as they sometimes seem to reappear softer a bit later. It works best when the stain is new. I tried it on really old set in stains from the past, Some come out and some never do.
I have never tried to use it on chauncey's paw where he has a rust like stain there. Think I might give it a try and see what happens. The groomer never seems to get that stain out. She says it is from licking but I never see him licking his paws.

Tag covers

You can also use business card laminates (you can buy them at an office supply store to cover the tags--they are super-adhesive and you can just apply them and cut around them--a little inside the border of the tag so there is none hanging off to get caught in the fur.

Pippa's Home Again microchip tag (which is plastic) sits on the side of her collar that is close to her fur--it is great protection.
