I have a big family all living together under the same roof. Although I'm usually the one taking Mozart out to potty and he sleeps in my room (in his own crate) at night he is pretty much everybody's dog. He is only a few days shy of his 1 yr birthday and is potty trained. Recently, whenever I go out and leaves him at home either with my mom or my brother (these are the other 2 people in the house he goes to for food) he would go potty on the carpet in either the living room or my brother's room. He has also been reported to chew on books and blankets as well as jump on the sofa which he never does when he is with me. Is this some sort of separation anxiety? Is there something else I can do besides locking him up in his crate whenever I go out?
I know he frets a lot whenever he sees me going out the door without him so I usually don't fuss over him right before I leave. As for how well my brother and mom keep him within their line of sight that I don't know. I know my brother is very strict with him but he rarely has Mozart right next to him for long. My mom said she tries to keep him by her but he keeps running off but will always return by her side when she calls. We know its in between those short disappearances that he has been naughty.
