Itchy Sheltie!

I have noticed that she licks her paws a bit more after coming in from playing so I assume she is just "cleaning". She is laying with the cat right now licking his ears while the cat is cleaning his paws lol I wish my camera was charged its the cutest thing I have ever seen. She is currently on Wellness Super5 for her food but I am going to change when this bag starts getting low because I have noticed her poo getting a little less solid and kind of a greenish/yellowish tint. I will definately have to go and pick up some fish oil and give it a try since it seems everything already gives it to there pups. I also think I have some oatmeal puppy shampoo around here I will have to find it as she is due for a bath this weekend anyway. Thanks for the tips!

Just watch her paws. I mean, is she really cleaning, or is at allergy? Keep an eye on it, that's it. I would definitely try a better dog food. I know Miko has been doing well on Taste of the Wild. He does better on grain-free, when it comes to his allergies. I wish I knew about these dog foods long ago, because he's suffered a long time. (Poor guy).

Definitely see how the omega 3s work. If not, try a grain free diet. Honestly, nothing worked for Miko's itchyness except me changing his dog food. I tried oils and oatmeal shampoo's. They only alleviated things for awhile, but it also seems Miko's allergies and dry skin are much more rampant than your pups.

Good luck.

I've noticed that my puppy does this too. She'll lick at her paws and scratch at herself. I've taken her to my regular vet who looked her over thoroughly, tested some type of reflex that might indicate mites and everything came back clear. There are no signs of redness or hair loss anywhere. She's currently getting Merrick puppy plate, but I'm going to switch her over to home-cooked food soon. I saw a holisitic vet who looked her over and said she's in the clear. She suggested cod liver oil (omega-3s). It's called Nordic something and the cod they use are caught just to make this oil, the fish is whole and not farm-raised. I'll see how it goes and if you'd like to know the specific name of the product, I'd be more than happy to let you know.
