Jake and I went to the tourney up in Portland, ME recently where there were probably 100 dogs competing. It was our first chance to see one up close. I got a lot of info by just watching. All Jake wanted to do was bark and pull and pull and bark. He was okay when I got him away from the races, but can't stand watching other dogs have fun. Still, a good experience for both of us.
Regarding his actual lesson (we had to skip week 2), he did not do great. He has no problem with the jumps, but doesn't always want to come all the way to me - oftentimes running off quickly after the last jump if he hears some other dog working the box. Will be bringing out the big treats (roast beef) to keep his concentration on the task at hand.
The box is another story. He is not afraid to touch it, but has not got the concept of turning yet. In trying to get him to turn around a cone placed in front of it, he more or less jumps the cone and avoids the box. So much so that I am building a crude replica at home for him to practice on.
Again, he's just under a year, so I am not expecting much. But we'll see what he can do.
