Joey Tri young male Sacramento Pound

He looks like a sheltie to me too. I bet with a good grooming he'll look really handsome. Our animal control here lists most of their dogs as a mix even though they look pure whatever breed. Guess they play it safe unless it's an owner surrender where they know for sure. Hope he gets rescued soon. It makes me crazy to see all these wonderful dogs needing homes. I am still hoping if some turn up closer to me that I can help save them.
 
I am not sure which sheltie rescue is near Sacramento. I believe Joey is all sheltie. He looks beautiful even ungroomed. Poor guy.
 
Northern California Sheltie Rescue norcalsheltierescue.org, they are very nice people, I was in contact with them before I got my puppy. (At that time I needed to be rescued.)

That didn't take long, here's her reply:

Thanks, Mark. Yes, I've been in contact with the shelter about "Joey". He passed their behavior assessment yesterday so they want to try to adopt him out from the shelter. The interim director assures me that we will be asked to take him should his status change to "endangered."

I'll have to check out the forum you mentioned. How's your puppy doing?
