Katy is Positive for Cushings

We got the blood results back today and the Vet seems to think along with the confirmation of the blood work it ties together many of the seemingly unconnected challenges she's been facing.

We are starting with a small dose of medication and will work up to the suggested treatment level to determine what she can tolerate.

The vet is hopeful this could take care of everything from her eating issues, her over drinking, her loss of strength in her back legs and a few other issues. We shall see. This is all new territory for us.

Well a diagnosis is a good starting point anyway. I don't have any experience myself with Cushings in dogs. I hope the meds do help her issues, so her quality of life improves which will make both of you happy!

Oh bugger, I'm sorry to hear this.

I knew a Daschund who had Cushings and wasn't too old. He lived many years with it on meds. He was a grumpy, snappy thing but that could just be the breed. I remember his owner wouldn't get his teeth cleaned and was careful about not stressing him because of it.

WHile I'm sorry Katy has Cushings, having a diagnosis is half the battle. Best of luck with the meds -- Katy will do fine, I'm sure!!
