Lack of equipment upkeep

Most of the shows around our way rent from MAD agility. There are a few smaller shows that use their own stuff, but most rent. I love MAD agility's equipment. The rubber surfaces make it easier for Trax to stop on his contacts :wink2:

Is that a pool noodle wired around the edge? I wouldn't want to be using that chute.

I think it is, and it seems like many use it for cushioning. Which begs the question....is the club that poor that they can't buy a new one and replace it? It'd cost what, tops, $5?

I can only dream that Max200 equipment was used everywhere :)

ITA. We use zip-ties on our wings, but even those, we usually make sure the "extra" part is hanging out into the wing area.

I agree, my training facility could use some new equipment. Thankfully, they're starting to repair and rubberize them.

Hmm.. this is all very interesting. The equipment I trial on is.. scary. We have one kennel club (poor as heck) and they own the equipment, and no one here rents out the stuff. Our chutes are not padded, didn't know they should be!! The material used on the contact equipment is some kind of felt carpet? Not great on a muddy day.

I should take pictures of our stuff and post them. It would be like a horror post.

As a committee member of the dogsports committee of said poor kennel club however, we are always concerned about safety, and I'll feedback some of the stuff I'm seeing here to the rest of the team. I'm eagerly waiting to hear what else we should be doing!

Felt? Yikes. That's kinda scary. Well, especially for my dog who has no body awareness. lol. Keep safe out there!
