oh, boy, we just got a challenge to teach our dogs put front and hind leg on one side up to the wall... anyone has done it and what were your steps?
I am feeling waaay over my head as I have not done much with hind legs...
Help!

A friend of mine from agility class does this...
I can't find her video that shows she's since been successful all the way against the wall but this is how she started:

I found this video, which I love!! It breaks it down, somewhat and I think I am going to start training it this way:

NOT going to train the handstand, lol... but to go up against the wall would help strengthen the front... and that hopefully will help his stride :D

I BET you can do this, fairly fast, because clicker training and Shelties are an unbeatable combination :D

Thank you much!
I browsed second poster and she has nice teaching clip

We are doing it with yoga blocks and both pups have done perch work so front paw is not a problem. We started back leg today for both Leo and Che, although an not sure if I should go up with front first and then try hind one...

I started it right after posting, lol...
I got him to walk backwards and he gets that part, but he doesn't yet realize I am clicking for putting his paw on the book... so after that a few times, I ended up just free shaping instead, and he had his four paws inside a basket in record time.. but no going against a wall or any sight thereof LOL

Keep ya posted, lol

so it took us about 3 weeks on and off attempts trying to figure out how to put one side paws on the wall and today for first time Che offered! Leo is slightly behind on offering, still tentative but he is getting there as well. Funny that while Leo is more confident of the 2, Che is the one that grasps everything faster and offers more.

ohhhhhhh
awesome!!! Congratulations!!!!!!! that's a tough one to shape!

I have stopped after Toffee got too frustrated, lol
He kept walking backwards then sideways lol, so I postponed, haahah

thank you!
what we ended up doing is I put board on the floor and positioned pup parallel to it and clicked for stepping on the board. Eventually I raised board on the angle and we got it. I am very very pleased. Lots of people on Recallers forum are good trainers so they got this behavior much sooner.
Now I can post mine as soon as I figure out this camera deal. My Mac does not read my camera so I am stuck with Linux:mad:
