Limping

Dixie has been limping frequently when she gets up from lying down. This has been going on for the last few weeks. She's only 3 years old, so we're surprised that she would be doing this. I assume that it's a blood circulation thing, but do you think we have reason to be concerned? She's not due for a regular check-up for a few more months.

I don't know where you live or what your situation with ticks is in your area, but that's exactly how our Barkley started with Lyme disease. Lyme frequently manifests first in lameness. If Dixie has no other symptoms, that's a possibility. Ask your vet to do a Lyme test. If it's just when she gets up, your pup could have an injured knee. We've had that happen as well with intermittent lameness when they get up from lying down. I'd take her in to the vet for an evaluation.

Vet visit needed

I agree , if Dixie has been limping upon rising for this length of time and still limping :eek2: I do strongly suggest an appointment with her vet. Better safe than sorry :uhoh:and it may be something simple like a pulled muscle. But please get her to a vet.
