Here in the UK, as well as regular shows we also have licenced fun shows that are exempt from normal regulations and are held to raise money for charity. The sheltie lads and I attended one of these today, in beautiful surroundings on the Kent Downs. Epic behaved himself very well in the Puppy class, although didn't get placed, Revel was Best Veteran, bless him, but I was really so pleased with Yogi.
It was his first obedience competition and I wasn't expecting a lot as we still haven't cracked the present with the dumbell (he can't get his head round being stationary with something in his mouth
Maybe he'll be incentivised by Epic, who pinched the dumbell from my bag and sat perfectly with it clamped tightly in his mouth
). Due to poor weather I have done almost no training with him this year but he was nice and keen to work. He did some positive on and off lead heelwork and a reasonable recall except he did anticipate marginally. The retrieve went as expected so I thought getting any place would be pretty fantastic. As I was in the BIS challenge with Revel I missed the obedience presentation so when the judge headed over with 1st and 2nd rosettes I was really delighted when I thought that Yogi had got 2nd but I was over the moon when she handed me the red 1st rosette instead and a trophy.
Very proud of my sable boy in his change of career - just got to work at that retrieve now
