Hi, Ive been helping out in my area of n.y. with Lost dogs. and some rescues...... I came a cross on petfinder.com this morning of a lost sheltie in staten island N.Y. I want to spread the word of Lassie missing. Of course this forum of sheltie lovers came into mind. I did not know where else on the forum to post this.

Please anyone from lower N.y. 5 boroughs Long Island if you can keep you eyes open for lassie or if you know of someone that lives inthe area maybe we can all help bring this senior boy home. :(
His name is Lassie he is a senior sable male sheltie.

thank you...

All fingers and paws crossed that Lassie and the dogs in Minnesota are reunited with their families very soon.
We have a group over here that have a website devoted to finding lost dogs, if you have lost your dog you get in touch and they will put the word out to members in that area. The members will then put up posters or go out and search for the dog. if someone on other forums I'm a member of find a dog they will also go and check to see if it's listed. If any of you can do websites or have people who can it's a very worthwhile thing to do. I'll put on a link to them so you can see what type of thing they do.

Very good question...(and moved from the intro section to the Off Course area for the time being.)

I don't see how the forum can be much help unless you have a photo. The forum allows for posting of links to other sites, but only premium members can put photos directly into posts.

I can create a new category for missing Shelties, but do you all think it would be helpful - even without photos? :confused2:

(If we do create the category, I think only the person who has lost the Sheltie should be allowed to start the thread.)

Thank you for letting the post stay open..... I dont have a picture of Lassie
I wish i did... alot of people who arent owned by shelties do know what a collie is and being told he looks like the Real Lassie i'm sure helps.
I thought if a sheltie was missing and people from the forum live in the area... they could keep their eyes open for him.

Extra prayers could help too. :wink2:

thank you again ..... for the replys and letting the post stay open

I would post here if my joey went missing... i think the more people the know the better .
thanks, kathy

I think the post without a picture is kind of useless. :( How is anyone to know if they found the dog ? I think if you have a picture of the lost animal that is a great start and with the large resource of people here it's a great starting point.
Prayers to Saint Francis are appropriate here. Hope they all find there way back home, or if the home is not a loving one may they find a new forever loving home.
