Making a home made kidney diet?

My little girl has kidney disease and will not eat Science Diet KD or Royal Canine KD formulas. I will have to prepare her food. The recipe I made last week is full of white bread and rice, and 1/4 cup ground beef. Is that harmful to have that much carby filler? she's 17 years old so getting her to eat anything at all is a plus. She did not break out in hot spots, so I guess beef isn't one of her triggers. (The kibble I've tried, is)

We lost our first Sheltie Cody to kidney disease. Once they stop eating, it is a challenge to find anything that they may eat. Even when you do, tomorrow they may not touch it. Try everything, do not worry too much about what it is. Anything is better than nothing. Take a look a dogaware.com There is a wealth of information on kidney disease, and diets. There is also a Yahoo Group that specializes in homemade diets for dogs with kidney disease. Cannot remember the exact name, but if you search kidney disease in Yahoo Groups it will come up.
