Did you guys see the picture of Max on the SN homepage (5/24)? Maine Sheltie Rescue is trying to raise money for his medical treatment. He's a 3yrs. old, double mearle w/ paralysis in his back legs. Some one on FB actually said this is disgusting and he should be pts. I think she maybe a member of SN because she said they could throw her out of the group if they wanted to. What a cold heartless person!

I hope that link works. If you "like" SN you get the daily homepage picture on your newsfeed.

One of my breeder's dogs had sudden onset paralysis. Woody is perfectly fine now. Never rush to judgment -- miracles do happen all the time.

I will probably send a donation. Max is young and Just maybe he will get a miracle like the story vet Quohong (I butchered this) told about the dachshund regaining use of it's back legs. Nobody can tell me not to donate.

Sadie had sudden onset paralysis 2 years ago. She was not quite three years old when it happened. We believe it was FCE (spinal stroke) but will never know.

Initially it affected all of her legs, as well as her neck. Within 24 hours her neck and front legs started working again, but she only had approx. 1/4 of the use of her back legs and could barely stand.

After prednisone and 6 months of rehab Sadie regained approx. 85-90% of the usage back. She walks and runs just fine, she just tires more quickly than dogs her age, has some difficulty with stairs and was left with some weakness.

Sadie did particularly well, but many dogs recover well enough to live full, happy lives.

If anyone has the email address for the Maine Sheltie rescue can you PM it to me? I'd love to offer them my support from my experience with Sadie.

Ms. McGuire doesn't deserve the love of a Sheltie.

Injured or handicapped pup? -throw it away!
