Missy the Circus Sheltie!

I just have to share a funny story from Agility class on Monday. And let me premise this by saying, Missy is a VERY food motivated dog. It can be a double edged sword. It's easy to get her to work because, "hey, food!", but sometimes she's so determined to get the food, she does silly/stupid things... and that is what she did on Monday.

During class, the instructor had been giving Missy treats to come back to her. So after we ran through the weaves, I would give her a treat, then the trainer (Rosanne) would call her over and give her a treat. This made the Rosanne Missy's best friend. We were going to work on the teeter, but since both of the dogs are green, Rosanne wanted to lower it a bit. While she flipped the teeter on it's side to adjust the height, I was trying to grab Missy to put her on her leash. But where does she run off to? To her new best friend. So Missy ran over to Rosanne and wanted a treat, so she tried to JUMP ON THE TEETER which was still on the side, where the board is only 2" or so wide. She managed to balance on it for a second or two before she jumped down. We all laughed, and they said they had never seen a dog try to jump on it like that. So now I've decided that Missy could join the circus and walk the tightrope now.

And this is why I'm nervous when she does the teeter or the dog walk.. she get's so excited I'm worried she's going to hurt herself!

Destin would like to join the circus shelties- he's been getting up on the back of the couch- attempting to get places that he's not supposed to go. hasn't tried the teeter yet- in any form:winkgrin:

We have a little terrier mix in our class, Kola. Last week in class, for some reason Kola decided to run on top of the tunnel instead of thru it. She may be a good candidate for your circus. Needless to say, the whole class had a great laugh. Kola found out that walking on top of the tunnel is actually quite difficult.:smile2:
