My first USDAA tournament

I wouldn't say I'm stressing out. I'm just more concerned about letting my partner down. But then again, I'm sure they'll feel the same way. Especially in Starters. lol.

I am worried about his A-frame though. lol. It's not perfect by any means. And his Standard run, why the heck am I doing Standard? LOL.

I am excited about the PSJ course though. I can't wait to run a USDAA Masters level course. ;)

I wasn't saying that you are stressing, just that you don't need to. Perhaps it's just that it's been a while since I was in Novice, but the Starters USDAA courses seem way easier than the AKC Novice courses currently are. Now 10 years ago when I first started in AKC, Novice was easier, but now they've definitely stepped it up a notch or 5  So saying that and knowing that you guys are past Novice, I don't think you have anything to worry about in Starters.

I understand being nervous about your partner though. I totally felt that way too when I did the team competition, but my partner did worse than me in most of the courses so that made me feel better temporarily ;-)

Ohh...sorry. Misread that. I did a P1 course early last year and it wasn't too bad. I recall it being crazy full of crosses, but I just watched it and said, WTH, that wasn't hard! It's amazing how far we've come in the past year. lol. So, no, I don't think we'll have any issues. Even with the PSJ (only because Koji loves jumpers style courses).

Our issues will be the contacts. Otherwise, it better be clean. LOL.

I would say this...don't worry about Pairs. Everyone has been screwed up by someone else, and everyone has been the screwer upper  Once in MASTERS I forgot the course. My partner ran clean and I just stood out there looking confused. I just got up the guts to apologize to her the other day, and she didn't even remember!

And the other thing that I want to say is that I don't usually feel that Steeplechase is a Masters level course. This has been changing in the past year or so, but typically its focus is on speed rather than technicality. There are some judges that are trying to make it more difficult, but that kind of goes against the original purpose of the event.

I would not compare it to Masters (in most cases, though as I said there are a few judges whose courses are exceptions). I have entered Lexi in Steeplechase a couple times, and I would say that she is not a Masters level dog yet (but she is getting there), and she has qualified in Steeplechase. I'll see if I can upload a few course maps when I get home.

Yup, different venues here have different things. AKC usually has 2 or 3 runs in one day, but typically 2. Almost all the other venues usually have 5 a day.

with Fast and Time 2 Beat, we'll be having four runs for two of the three days at our club's trial. we only entered JWW and Std though:wink2:

After running ASCA earlier in the month, I'll be ready for speed with Koji. ;) Well, hopefully I can keep up. I would love to see some course maps if you have them. You can email me them. If not, it's okay.

Nowdays, most of the AKC trials I see have at least 3 runs. But yup, one day, I saw them run all 4. Gotta say, they did a pretty good job of getting it run fast. But with so many people, 4 runs for AKC is a LONG day.
