in some dogs they never descend. At that point usually by a year if they are not down you have to have them neutered, if left they can cause cancer, but usually it doesnt become cancerous for a few years...
Marking, humping etc is not always indicative of male hormones...he may always just be laid back etc..My older male has that that personality..hes 11 yrs old now and he has never marked or tried to hump anything and he was neutered at almost a year old...

Colonel Underpants still retains his privates. He started trying to attend to the ladies at about 7-8 months -- most noticeably at a year.
, that's funny! I have every intention of having toby's parts removed at a reasonable age..
Yesterday when Toby was getting his rabies vaccination, the vet could feel them fine, but said they haven't come into the sac yet! Poor guy, I hope they do drop more cause I know neutering would be far more invasive if they dont.![]()
I am not really understanding the issue are they both way up in the inguinal area or is there just not much of a sac yet(not unusal at 5 months)? If your vet can feel both testicles neutering is not anymore invasive than normal. It is only when the testicles are in the abdomen that it is a problem. You can nont feel the testicles in the abdomen.
Testosterone developes in the testicles regardless of where they are. In fact, bilateral cyptorchids(both in the abdomen) are known to far more aggressive than normal animals.
At 5 months, Toby is still a baby. The behavior changes associated with sexual maturity usuallly don't start before 7-9 months and really get going after a year to around 2.5-3yrs when they are socially mature. If one sees humping, aggression, marking etc before that time is it usually more a reflction of the dog's personality and training then anything.
